This year will be my sixth year teaching elementary school, my fourth at TCAPS Montessori. I began my teaching career as a snowboard instructor at Crystal Mountain, and later embarked on a more formal teaching journey in Petoskey. This is my fourth year at Montessori, and I couldn’t be happier.  Nothing has been more rewarding, challenging, and yes, FUN!  I have thoroughly enjoyed watching the children discover and experience many concepts and grow beyond my expectations!

My academic background began as I graduated from Central Michigan University in 2004. I recently obtained my Master’s Degree in K-12 reading through Central Michigan University. I have also completed the upper elementary training at the Montessori Training Center in Rochester Hills in 2008.

On a more personal note, I have been married to my husband, Christopher for 7 years.  We enjoy cooking, traveling, and entertaining, as well as spending time with our two “canine kids”, Birdie and Franklin (a couple of rambunctious retrievers). In my spare time, I enjoy all manners of outdoor endeavors, particularly cycling. My goal is to ride at least 1,000 miles each season, and I am already planning a cross-country (at least part of it) tour for next summer. I also competed in my first triathlon this summer. Boy, was that a challenge! It showed me the power of “never giving up”.

The Montessori philosphy is rooted in a well-prepared environment, intrinsic motivation, creativity, and the natural insight of each child. I feel truly blessed and delighted to work with such an amazing group of teachers, children, and families. It is an amazing feeling to be present when a child realizes their capabilities and is motivated through the learning process.
