Please allow me to introduce myself. My name is Sarah Socks. I am a Primary Montessori Directress at Glenn Loomis. This is my second year with TCAPS and I am just thrilled to be apart of this wonderful school district and the encompassing community.
I was born and raised in St. Clair Shores, Michigan. A year ago I moved to the area and feel so blessed to be living and working in such a beautiful community. I am committed to being a life long learner. I have obtained a Bachelor’s of Art in Elementary Education (with a major in math and a minor in Early Childhood), a Masters in Early Childhood Education, a Learning Disabilities Certification and most recently a Primary Montessori Certification. I have always enjoyed children, so I have spent one year teaching second grade, five years teaching third grade and five years teaching preschool both in the general education and special education programs. My last certification has brought me to the TCAPS Montessori and I couldn’t be happier to be here!
Our classroom is so excited to have two amazing teaching assistants. Mrs. Kristi Getchel (Ms. Kristi) has been working with our program since 2003. She recently transferred over from Mrs. Larrea’s room. We are very excited to welcome her into our learning environment. We hope to utilize her knowledge of the Montessori Math sequence with both the preschool and kindergarten children. Ms. Michelle Sissen (Ms. Shelly) has been working in our program since 2007. She completed her Montessori training and is working on completing her Elementary Education Degree, among many other things! Ms. Shelly cares for children in her home and has for many years. She has a wonderful innate understanding of children. Both women will participate in giving lessons to the preschool children (youngers).
As a team, we will be committed to providing a prepared classroom environment where children feel safe, where their individual needs are met and where they can explore their surroundings following their own particular interests. We look forward to observing all of the learning and changes this year has to offer for your child and anticipate working closely together while guiding these children through-out this school year!
Sincerely,
Sarah Socks
