_MRS. LIZ VOGEL
Montessori Upper Elementary Directress
Classroom Phone:  (231) 933-8590

    Email:  vogelli@tcaps.net

_I have been with the district for 8 years. I began my educational career as a Title I Assistant in regular education, then moved to the Montessori program in 2005 as an assistant in both the upper elementary and lower elementary environments. I am currently in my fourth year as a Montessori Directress. Nothing has been more rewarding, challenging, and yes, FUN! I have thoroughly enjoyed watching the children discover and experience many concepts and grow beyond my expectations! I am very eager to begin my fourth year as a Montessori Directress with your child!  My academic background began as I graduated Summa Cum Laude from Central Michigan University in 2005 with a Bachelors of Science in Education with minors in Early Childhood Development and Reading. I am currently pursuing my Masters in Education through Marygrove College in Detroit. I have also completed the upper elementary training at the Montessori Training Center in Rochester Hills, and have finally finished all of the requirements and should be receiving my Montessori certification soon!

On a more personal note, I have been married to my husband, Gary for almost 14 years. We have two angelic and extremely curious 2 year old twin boys, Joshua and Jacob. Life in the Vogel household is full and rich as the boys embrace everything with arms and eyes wide open. It helps to keep our lives in perspective as we take a moment to experience life through their eyes. We love the outdoors as we explore the world of making snowmen, shoveling snow, sledding, bugs, flowers and plants, walking, biking, hiking, swimming, birding, gardening, canoeing and strolling along the beach.

I’ve also been known to get a little carried away when it comes to sports! While I don’t play them as much as I’d like anymore, I do enjoy cheering on my favorite hockey teams, the Detroit Redwings and Grand Rapids Griffins or favorite football teams, the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Lions. I also pretend to bowl, although I did manage to get six strikes in one game once! On a more relaxing and creative note, I am hoping to enjoy gardening, reading, cooking, scrap booking, and crafts.

Mission For The Class                                                                                                    To guide the students to become independent, life-long learners, to make every effort to do their best in any situation, to set high-level goals, both academically and socially, for themselves, and to believe that they can do anything in the world if they set their minds to it.
