Toddler Montessori Directress

_The Power of Toddlers

Their way of life will teach us peace. Their enthusiasm and joy for life will bring us happiness. Their stories will make us laugh. Their affection will warm our hearts. Their stubbornness will teach us patience. Their sadness will teach us compassion. Their frustrations will teach us humility. Their lack of vocabulary will teach us observation, sensibility, and intuition. In fact, we are going to fall in love with them! Guignard Claudine Kirkland, WA

What a perfect description of the most amazing group of children, Toddlers. As a Montessori directress I prepare a safe environment in which they can explore, concentrate and enjoy their work. Along with my wonderful assistant, Mrs. Rebecca McGarry Costello, we guide your toddler in care of self, care of the environment, grace and courtesy, and preparedness for the Primary environment.

I am the oldest of seven children and say that I have been guiding children since I was two years old. In reality, I have been working with children for several years. I owned a licensed home daycare, was an assistant in private/public preschools, as well as   traditional (1st, 2nd and 4th grade) classrooms, was program manager of TCAPS Oak Park Elementary Child Development Center and currently I am the directress of the TCAPS Montessori Toddler Program. I received my Early Childhood Certificate from Northwestern Michigan College and my Infant/Toddler Montessori Certificate from the North American Montessori College. I also have taken and been involved in many classes, workshops and conferences concerning early childhood.

I love living in Traverse City and enjoy all that is has to offer. My husband, Dennis and I raised our family here, after moving from Midland, Mi. We have two grown children, Steven (Kimberly) and Ashley (Christopher). They have blessed us with 3 wonderful grandsons, Ethan, Brady & Owen. Being a grandparent is absolutely the best!

“Never help a child with a task at which he feels he can succeed.” - Dr. Maria Montessori -
