I grew up in East Lansing and went to school at Michigan State University.  In 1997, I graduated with a BA in Political Theory. Shortly after graduation, I moved to Chicago, where I spent 3 years working for a commercial real estate company.  In 2002 I moved to Traverse City to work on a political campaign.

In the fall of 2002 I returned to school to become a Montessori teacher.  I took education courses at Grand Valley's Traverse City campus and was lucky enough to be offered a student teaching placement with TCAPS Montessori in the upper elementary.  I followed up with a year working as Mr. Habich's classroom assistant.  In 2007 I worked as an upper-elementary teacher with Leelanau Montessori in Suttons Bay. Despite enjoying a wonderful first year there, budget cuts forced me to find another position.  During the 2008-2009 school year I filled in for Liz Vogel and Kristin Larrea, in their upper-elementary and primary classrooms respectively, while they took time off for maternity leaves.  

In 2009-2010 I had a great experience working as an upper-elementary teacher for Walden Green Montessori in Spring Lake, Michigan but felt I could not pass up the opportunity to return to TCAPS when a position became available.

This fall will be my second year teaching at the lower elementary level with TCAPS Montessori and I can’t wait to begin.
