Mr. Andrew Habich
TCAPS Montessori Upper Elementary Director

I have been blessed with the opportunity to be with TCAPS Montessori and to work with the wonderful upper-elementary children and families that I serve.  I am also delighted to be working alongside such a supportive and talented staff.  It is truly an honor.

I graduated from Onekama High School in Manistee County, in 1988.  I attended Western Michigan University where I played football for two seasons.  I graduated with a Major in elementary education, minors in math, science, and physical education.  Currently I have a few paperwork items to finish my masters in School Principalship from Central Michigan Universtiy.

Shortly after graduating from WMU I moved to T.C.  The next school year I chased a childhood dream.  I journeyed to Kobuk, Alaska, a remote Eskimo village, where I lived for one year and taught third through eighth grades.   Next I returned to Traverse City and accepted a position at Central Grade School teaching traditional sixth grade.  My second year at Central Grade found me teaching lower-elementary Montessori.  It didn’t take me long to realize that I had found home.  I truly love the Montessori philosophy and after teaching lower-elementary for three years I moved to the upper-elementary classroom, where I have now been for seven years.

In addition to my above-mentioned academic and professional accomplishments I have a lovely wife Jeannine and three wonderful children.  Drake our first child is nine years of age, Ella is now almost seven years old and the last Habich family member, Owen, is four and a half years old.   My hobbies include hunting, fishing, hiking, biking, canoeing, training dogs, and spending time with the family.

Lastly, we are very fortunate to have Mr. Jon Stewart as our classroom assistant.  Mr. Stewart has been with us in our upper elementary environment for five years now.  Mr. Stewart has a wonderful sense of humor and loves to work with kids just as much as I do.  I don’t know what we would do without him.
