April 27th  -- This is the last weekend to collect pledges! Keep Collecting pledges through May 3rd!!!

The annual Move-a-thon has quickly become a much-loved tradition -- and  is our PTO's biggest fundraiser. Last year, the  Move-a-thon raised a whopping $13,000 for our school! This energetic one-day event has students “move it”—run, walk, skip—for as many laps as they can in a specific time period. Each student collects pledges for the number of laps they complete, or a fixed donation amount for completing the event. Each year the Move-a-thon has a new theme, and inspires students and staff to "Move it - Move it!" once again.

    Move-A-Thon Volunteer Sign-up
We are in need of 40-50 parent volunteers to help make this day a great event.  The event is divided into two sessions, morning and afternoon. The majority of volunteers are needed in the morning. The time commitment of each would be from 8:30am to 11:30am (3 hrs) or 12:15 to 2:15pm (2 hrs). Please sign up if you can help.

On behalf of the TCAPS Montessori Move-A-Thon Committee, thank you for taking part in this wonderful event! We couldn't make this successful without all of your help!

VOLUNTEER JOB DESCRIPTIONS

Lap Counter

The outer track volunteers will be counting laps and the inner track volunteers will be supervising the activities area and helping make the switch of tracks.

Lap Counter volunteers will be assigned to a specific color of balloons on either the inner or outer track.  The color next to your name on the volunteer list indicates your assigned balloons. The students from each class will be divided into groups based on color and assigned to a track. The student’s you will be responsible for will be wearing a lap sheet pinned to the backs of their shirts. The color of your assigned students’ lap sheets will correspond to the color of balloon bouquet you will be assigned to. These ‘movers’ will begin the event after their warm-up time with Mrs. L at your station (set of balloons).

The inner track will be the activities area, you are responsible for keeping the children in the inner track area. You will help to signal the move of the “movers” to their balloons when they switch places. There is a 5 minute allotment to make this change.

Please make sure to split up the students with the fellow volunteers at your station and assign them a parent volunteer so that each student will know who is checking off their lap sheet.

If you would like to count laps for your child then please go ahead and trade with another lap counter.

Each time your assigned students pass your station, you will use a marker to mark off the correct number of laps on their lap sheet. Refer to the attached map of the track to see where you are stationed.

POPSICLE TABLE

You are responsible for giving each runner a popsicle immediately following their jog, before they return to their classrooms.  The popsicles will be in the cafeteria. The students will then group together by class and have their picture taken.

WATER TABLE

The water table will be located in the gym. You will be responsible for keeping water cups partially filled. This will be a busy place! Kids will be in a hurry to get a drink and then return to the track. Please try and have plenty of cups ready and waiting. Also, please make sure that all water cups stay in the gym and are put in the trash. Towels will be available, for everyone’s safety, please be sure to clean up any spills.

Classroom Coordinator

Each class pair lines up at the gym doors at their “arrive” time. Please make sure to communicate with the teachers on when go time is so we can keep the flow in an out of the gym organized and on schedule. You will need a copy of the Move-a-thon schedule in hand along with a watch.

Thank you for helping to make this such a great event for our kids and our school!!!!
